La Maddalena Archipelago
The archipelago is generally considered one of the most picturesque places in the world, reflected by the formation of its National Park in 1994 to protect all the area’s resources recognised by the European Community.
This goes for its pristine, emerald-green waters and lush Mediterranean vegetation, its countless beaches and bays, and not forgetting its granite rock – all making it a place of rare beauty and of huge natural, historic and cultural value.
The Park is visited by many tourists as well as Italian and international scientists and naturalists. They come to find a natural environment to study habitats and species no longer found in other places, such as rare plant species typical of the Mediterranean, birds like the highly rare Corsican seagull and marine fauna with a wealth of species.
Access to the National Park of the Maddalena Archipelago is only possible with the correct authorisation from its managing body.
Except for the island of La Maddalena itself, there are no restaurants or bars where you can buy food or drink in the archipelago. For this reason, you need to bring your own refreshments with you.
